R&D Capability Development
P&S Robotics has dedicated itself to
a single path of technological development.

Founded in 1997 based solely on confidence in its technological capabilities,
P&S Mechanics incorporated in 2003, paving the way for robotics dedicated to human well-being.

The name "P&S" stands for Pride, and Specialist, symbolizing the harmony among team members who possess both pride and expertise in the field of robotics.

The company solidified its foundation by undertaking design and manufacturing projects for Korea’s leading research institutions,
steadily internalizing relevant technologies through advanced development projects.
This fostered trusted partnerships with key collaborators—including KIST, nuclear power plants,
and university-affiliated research institutes—driving the company's technological growth.

The company demonstrated its competitiveness in the design and manufacturing of automation systems and
offered a glimpse into the future of the robotics industry through haptic devices that implemented remote interaction based on sensory feedback.
Furthermore, it successfully developed an advanced humanoid robot commissioned by the Intelligent Robot Project Group and exhibited it at various events.
The humanoid robot created by P&S Robotics was displayed during the APEC Summit held in Busan at the time, garnering significant media attention as a vision of the future.

The Birth of Walkbot
Building upon its accumulated technology,
P&S pursued a corporate direction focused on
creating robots for people.

The company chose a challenging path, deciding to develop its proprietary robot into a rehabilitation
device for patients with limited mobility and pursuing its eventual commercialization.

The journey began in 2006 with a wearable robot prototype—an innovative product for its time, featuring modules for the hip, knee, and ankle joints.
However, the team concluded that it was unsuitable for rehabilitation patients due to practical issues, such as limited battery life and
safety risks associated with walking training on diverse terrain.

Prioritizing safety and efficiency, the research team shifted the development direction toward an exoskeleton-type gait rehabilitation robot.
They incorporated numerous patented technologies, including features for improved joint function, a load-compensation system,
and automatic adjustment of segment lengths between joints. These efforts between 2007 and 2008 resulted in the first model based on the "Walkbot" concept.

Not content to stop there, the team undertook comprehensive improvements between 2009 and 2010 to develop the second Walkbot model.
This process—which involved upgrading robotic components, increasing torque at each joint, and adopting new speed
reducers—brought the robot closer to the goal of effective gait rehabilitation.
Buoyed by this progress, Walkbot was showcased at KIMES 2010, marking the start of its commercialization journey,
which culminated in the launch of the Walkbot_S in 2011.

A Robot for Human being
Walkbot is a gait rehabilitation robot created through
the combination of over 2,000 components
and various software programs.

Following the launch of Walkbot_S, the company focused its R&D capabilities
on developing new products by upgrading the performance of its gait rehabilitation robots.

This led to a series of launches: Walkbot_K for pediatric patients in 2012; Walkbot_G and Walkbot_GK in 2015, which accommodate both adult and pediatric patients through module interchangeability; and Walkbot_P in 2020, equipped with top-tier specifications for gait rehabilitation robots.

During this product development process, the company advanced various technologies, including software to enhance training efficacy based on patient feedback, augmented reality (AR) to boost training motivation, gait pattern optimization tailored to physical conditions, real-time gait torque control, AI-based performance upgrades, and plantar pressure analysis.

Leveraging its core robotics technologies, the company also pursued various projects alongside its Walkbot performance upgrades.
It successfully carried out several industry-academia collaboration projects, such as developing improved versions of CIROS and KIBO for the Intelligent Robot Business Group.

Driven by continuous patent acquisition and global certifications—including US FDA approval and the European CE MDR—the company expanded its revenue with a strong focus on exports.
Building on its understanding of human joint mechanics, the company also prepared an upper-limb rehabilitation robot, unveiling the shoulder training robot "Healerbot_H" in 2025.

P&S Robotics has demonstrated world-class technology through its Walkbot series.
As a robot system design and manufacturing company, it continues to grow with a commitment to "manufacturing robots for people."
